Account Settings - Conversion Tracking

Conversion tracking allows marketers to track when an opener is converted. An important key element of the conversion tracking is the Subscriber ID, the unique identifier for an opener.

To benefit from this functionality the following elements are required:

  • The Subscriber ID

  • The tracking script

  • Conversion data in reports

The Subscriber ID

Subscriber IDs are essential for obtaining precise, subscriber-level reporting on your email campaign elements. These IDs are designed to align with variable tags, which are fields within your email service provider (ESP) that help track and personalize each subscriber's interaction with your content. By linking Subscriber IDs to these variable tags, you can gain valuable insights into individual subscriber behavior and ensure more accurate data analysis for optimizing your campaigns.

For more information on how to set up the Subscriber ID, please read the topic Set up your subscriber ID.

Note: Revenue, conversion, and order data are matched to the impressions (or opens) of Liveclicker elements, not with clicks.

Add the tracking pixel to your website

To track conversions, you need to add the tracking pixel to your order confirmation page on your website.

This tracking pixel can be retrieved from the Account Settings>RealTime content>General tab:

For the conversion tracking to work properly, you need to have the Subscriber ID set up. If you haven't done that yet, do it now and next refresh the conversion tracking pixel before copying it.

Once this script has been added, you can start tracking revenue, orders and conversions.

Add conversion data to your reports

Once conversion tracking is activated, check if the conversion data is included in the reports.

Go to the Account Settings>Reporting>Insights tab:

Tick the boxes for orders, conversion rate and revenue to include these in the metrics for the reports.

Example

1. The user opens an email containing one or more Liveclicker elements.

2. A specific Subscriber ID value is stored for each element in the Liveclicker database.

3. At the time of purchase, the Subscriber ID of the purchaser is determined by the website and passed through the Liveclicker conversion tracking pixel on your web page, and then back to the Liveclicker database.

4. Upon receiving conversion data, the Liveclicker database will search records from the last 7 days looking for a match to the Subscriber ID that was passed in the conversion tracking pixel data. By default, there's a 7-day window set up for this, but you are welcome to modify that length, you'll just need to reach out to Support for assistance.

5. If/when a match is found, the conversion, revenue, and order data for that subscriber will be attributed to the last email opened containing a Liveclicker element.

Troubleshooting

Make sure your ESP Subscriber ID tag tracks recipients from opening the email all the way through to the conversion.

Make sure that you are triggering the tracking pixel with every purchase.

The Liveclicker conversion tracking window is 7 days, so be sure to check any date variance within your ESP or onsite analytics tracking.

If you are using conversion tracking on Liveclicker elements embedded on the web, you may or may not have Subscriber ID information available. If that is the case, then please follow these rules for it to work properly:

  • If you can provide a Subscriber ID both in the embed code tag for the element and the conversion tracking pixel, include it.

  • If a Subscriber ID is not available for the order, you should NOT include a Subscriber ID in either the embed code tag for the element or the conversion tracking pixel.
